Nuit Blanche

What are my thoughts on Scotiabank's Nuit Blanche 09?
To be honest, it was slightly disappointing.
It was my first time going, and after a huge meal from Salad King my Ry fashion buds and I set off on our night time journey.
We were pretty excited at first, but had a bit of difficulty locating some exhibits.
We went to the funhouse exhibit first, which we thought had funhouse mirrors and the like, but were greeted with old people dressed in spandex in seizure-inducing patterns and colours. They were wailing and chanting and it was quite freaky. The people who came out to watch just stood around them looking rather dumbfounded.
This was the typical reaction to most of the exhibits, such as the Ice Queen.
I am one to appreciate art - I actually like trying to understand the message the artist is trying to convey through whatever mediums. However, most of the stuff at Nuit Blanche was a bit too much of the same, bewildering act most people cannot appreciate.
A few cool things were the Rabbit Balloon and the fashion showing at the Chang School, but I am partial to that since I helped set up the Jocelyn Teng exhibit : )
Her structural canvas pieces were really amazing, and working with her to set up the mannequines was a great opportunity, she was so nice :) They were also showing Lucian Matis and another designer's pieces. I just have to say, Lucian Matis is definitely an attractive looking guy! He's a Ryerson fashion alumni, and very talented too! I saw him again today when attending FGI's Fashion Next event : )

Anyways, here are some pictures from that night :)

Sorry for the rather late update, this event happened October 3rd.

GOODBYE FOR NOW,
